Motilal Nehru National Institute of Technology Allahabad, Prayagraj (MNNIT) is an institute that is fully committed to quality and academic excellence. It was established in 1961 as one of the seventeen Regional Engineering Colleges of India as a joint enterprise of Government of India and Government of Uttar Pradesh, and was an associate college of University of Allahabad, the third oldest university in India. The Institute was affiliated to U.P for a short period of two years (2000-2002). University of Engineering.The Institute has been given the rank of an organization of national significance with the passage of the National Institutes of Technology Act-2007(29 to 2007) w.e.f. 15.08.2007. The Institute has been providing bachelor degree programs in structural engineering, electrical and mechanical engineering. This became the first in the world to launch a computer science & engineering undergraduate curriculum in 1976-77. The graduate programs in Electronics Engineering and Manufacturing & Industrial Engineering were initiated in 1982-83.
