Maneshwar Temple is an ancient temple which is about 7 km from Champawat town. 1 km from Champawat-Pithoragarh motorway. At a distance of Praktik Sushmayukt is situated on the top of the mountain. Maneshwar Temple is the oldest temple of Champawat and this temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva. The Maneshwar temple was built by the Chand dynasty king Nirbhaychand in the 8th century.Along with the construction of the temple, the king also got the Akhand Dhuna site constructed and at the same time built a pucca stepwell near the temple to collect the water of the Gupta Naula. Maneshwar temple is also worshiped as Shaktipeeth and Kranteshwar mountain of Kurma Bhagwan is situated right near Maneshwar temple.According to the beliefs, many miraculous powers of Shaktipeeth have been the center of wonder and reverence for the people for centuries, such as bathing with the water of Gupt Nauli located near the temple, along with virtue benefits, many diseases and disorders are removed and devotees get benefited.
