About Us
Government Girls Degree College Haldwani (Nainital), currently renamed "Indira Priyadarshani Govt. Girls College of Commerce," was founded on February , , in response to a long-held desire of the local people and public leaders for its establishment. The college is located on Nawabi Road in Haldwani and is the first and only Government Girls Institution in Uttarakhand. The Arts faculty began with seven subjects: Hindi, English, Sanskrit, Economics, Political Science, Psychology, and Home Science. In , two more Social Science subjects, Sociology and Education, were given affiliation. Commerce and science departments were established in and , respectively. Currently, the college offers a PG Diploma in Vocational Courses such as Yoga and Alternative Therapy and Computer Science.
